If you’ve ever caught a flight out of DFW Airport or grabbed a popcorn at a Cinemark theater, you’ve interacted with the handiwork of North Texas manufacturing. For nearly a century, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex has transformed from a landscape of cattle trails into a global industrial powerhouse. At GST Manufacturing, we’ve had a front-row seat—and a few welding torches in hand—since we first started sparking to life in 1933.
The Foundation: How the West Was Built (and Welded)
A hundred years ago, North Texas was at a turning point. The transition from a cattle-driven economy to an industrial giant was fueled by the discovery of oil and the rise of the defense and aerospace sectors. As the region expanded, the need for high-quality, reliable metal fabrication became the literal backbone of our growing cities.
Since 1933, we’ve been part of that evolution. Back then, "industrial progress" meant manual welding and a "Texas Handshake" level of reliability. As the Metroplex grew into a hub for logistics and innovation, we scaled alongside it, moving from simple components to complex, heavy geometries that power the state.
Building the Connections: DFW, DART, and Trinity Metro
You can’t talk about the last century of North Texas without talking about how we move. Our fingerprints are all over the infrastructure that connects our dozens of municipalities.
We have provided the structural backbone for some of the region's most iconic transit projects. From the massive logistics operations at DFW Airport to the expansion of DART and Trinity Metro (formerly The T), GST has been there. We’ve fabricated everything from the shelters on the TEXRail line—connecting downtown Fort Worth to the airport—to current transit projects at the Dallas Convention Center. This isn't just about bending metal; it’s about building the "Single-Source Certainty" that keeps millions of commuters safe and dry every day.
Partnering with Regional Powerhouses
Over the decades, we’ve expanded our expertise beyond transit to support the brands and industries that define Texas.
Entertainment & Retail: We work with regional giants like Cinemark, Alamo Drafthouse, and more, fabricating specialized projection booths that bring the magic of the movies to life. Beyond the theater, our retail display manufacturing is installed in stores nationwide, proving that what’s made in North Texas has a global reach.
Energy & The Permian Basin: Texas energy infrastructure lives in a state of constant environmental warfare. Whether it’s natural gas compression enclosures in North Texas or drilling rig components in the Permian Basin, we provide the heavy-duty protection needed for survival in the oil patch. These assets face high-vibration stress and corrosive fluids, requiring the industrial-grade finishes we’ve perfected over the last 90+ years.
The Evolution: Welding Meets AI and Robotics
While our roots are in traditional craftsmanship, the shop floor looks a lot different than it did in 1933. We’ve traded some of those manual torches for robotic welding and AI-driven precision.
Today, we use CAD software to create 3D models where every bolt-hole is calculated with mathematical certainty before a single arc is struck. Robotic welding allows us to perform precise, high-impact welds at a scale that manual labor alone couldn't reach. This tech doesn't replace the welder; it empowers them to handle the massive oven volumes and overhead rail capacities required for the "Sovereign" scale projects that North Texas demands.
Why the Last 100 Years Matter
In North Texas, we don’t just build things; we build them to survive the "Texas Stress Test." Our environment is constantly trying to turn steel back into dust with 110-degree sun, high humidity, and thermal expansion cycles.
From the first weld struck in 1933 to the AI-integrated assembly lines of today, our mission hasn't changed: providing the technical expertise and craftsmanship that keeps our region moving forward. We’ve spent a century helping North Texas grow from a regional hub into a manufacturing titan, and we’re proud to be the ones making sure that progress is built to last.
