Shelby's Sugar Shop

WELCOME TO GST RETAIL

Increasing foot

marketplace

Shelby’s Sugar Shop was an established brand that was struggling with enough foot traffic to their inline stores. They asked GST Retail to develop concepts for kiosks in their mall's common areas – where traffic and customers are abundant. Even though they were going from an inline store to a kiosk- they didn’t want to reduce the various types of candy offered. GST Retail’s challenge was to create a fun, playful, eye-catching kiosk that provided plenty of flexible merchandising space to display all of Shelby’s delicious candy.

Our modular solution

GST Retail’s solution was a flexible and modular kiosk. Each section of the kiosk is 10’ x 10’ and multiple sections can be added together to create larger footprints. Each 10’ length can have zero to three merchandising panels to create a wall of product, entry points, or a combination. Each merchandising panel has complete flexibility with recessed standards around the frame of the panel. This allows for shelving, merchandising hang bars, peg hooks to display hanging items, and flexible graphic displays. The panel also has the ability to have large interchangeable graphics, so Shelby’s Sugar Shop can easily swap out graphics for each season and holiday so the kiosk is continuously fresh and updated. As Shelby’s Sugar Shop grows the kiosk will grow with it – by just adding another kiosk section and more candy for all of the guests to enjoy.


The kiosk installations have been extremely successful. GST Retail worked closed with Washington Prime’s visual team as they created the graphic treatments for the new kiosk. The team was able to show their graphics on the model of the render and tweak the design until it was just right. The kiosk is so bright and inviting that customers have been ready to come in and experience Shelby’s Sugar Shop before they are completely ready to open. The kiosks have also been outperforming their inline stores as well – in the first four operating days, the candy sales were higher than their best week of sales in the stores.
